"A witch is nothing without her spoon." Do you dare to help her get it back?

Featuring all three members of Tricky Pixie, "Song of the Witches" is rallying cry, lament, and enticement all rolled up in one! S. J. wrote this piece about a scene in Catherynne M. Valente's novel, The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making, in which the heroine, September, encounters two witches and a wairwulf who have a lot to say.

maybe the truth isn't asking too much
we look at the future and help it along
to stir such a cauldron, you've got to be strong

it's grander than fiction, the life that we lead.

a sprinkle of glamour, a dollop of charm, trading
family secrets and recipes long as your arm!

made of salt and umbrellas and typewriters too

battle nobility's ill-advised whim.

threatening with lions and offering bribes

murdered our brothers and mother for want of a spoon!
