Stone Bear
I'm used to hearing this acoustic; the addition of cello and electrics and such makes an already awesome tune a rich treat for both ears and soul.

A beautiful prayer for these times of change. This one was a favorite from the traveling songs. When that cello comes in on this rendition, oof, gets me right in the heart.

about
In an uncertain world, perhaps a prayer to the unpredictable is something we can cling to.
From S. J.: I wrote this one in 2015, and it's been a favorite of mine ever since, sharing some characteristics with both my older song, "Carousel" and some of my jazzy stuff. For whatever reason, a bunch of my encounters with the divine have involved a Trickster deity about half the time. That's a thing which might terrify some people, and I understand. Like the song says, I know they'll be as gentle as they can.
lyrics
Jokers wild, cloudy skies,
lights go down, new sunrise,
temple burns, mothers weep.
Trickster, guard my fitful sleep.
Aces high, spirits low,
always on with the show.
Rules to break, vows to keep.
Trickster, guard my fitful sleep.
I know you've been
as gentle as you can
in sleeping or in waking.
I keep my courage
very close at hand
and pretend I am
unbreakable.
Heavy crown, thistledown,
wicked smile, silly frown.
Love's embrace, no mistake.
Trickster, guide me when I wake.
Cuddle tight. Kill the light.
Bring the love and not the fight.
Morning coffee, evening tears;
Trickster, please stay right here.
Oh, I know you'll be
as gentle as you can.
I'll be at my bravest,
stick to the road,
follow all the plan,
no matter how
it changes.

“Without our songs and stories, we are nothing.” S. J. Tucker has been captain of her own music career since 2004, when she
left the workaday world behind to sing songs and change lives. Tucker is the voice of lore at the campfire and the sharp laughter of modern myth. With one hand anchored in her art and the other held out to us, she is songs and stories, community and wit....more
I would happily stroll the green with the Professor if the opportunity came. So very posh, and yet so very silly. Who wouldn't love a chap like this? He inspires me to parasol-rap of my own. <3 S. J. Tucker
Ginger (they, them) is my favorite recording engineer, bandmate, soulmate, and straight-up genius. This Cocoon is their first solo release. Favorite track: "Made It Home". I sang backup on "Masks" S. J. Tucker
Dogwood is the real deal: mythology, wit, whimsy, wisdom, and outstanding musical chops. Do please eat the pomegranate seeds so that you can stay a while and listen. S. J. Tucker
